How to Disciple your Congregation in Stewardship

One of the biggest challenges any Stewardship Ministry faces is the need to address the entire congregation regardless of financial standing. Some programs assume that all their participants struggle with debt; others assume that everyone has surplus to give. And likely there are people in both of these camps in your congregation, as well as people between the extremes.

People generally fall into one of 3 Lanes on the road to Biblical stewardship, representing broad categories of financial conditions. Lane 1 is financial crisis; Lane 2 is making ends meet; and Lane 3 is making progress and building net worth. Stewardship principles are consistent across these three lanes, but the application of those principles varies.
